Frequently Asked Questions About Silba Island Beaches

Useful tips for swimmers, families with children, and boaters visiting Silba Island.

How do you get to Silba Island? ▾

Via passenger catamaran or ferry from Zadar, or via seasonal catamarans connecting Pula, Mali Lošinj, and Rijeka. The island is completely car-free.

Where can boats anchor or moor on Silba, and are there mooring buoy fields? ▾

Silba has two small harbors: western Mul (shallow, exposed to Bora) and eastern Žalić (ferry pier, exposed to Jugo). For overnight stays, boaters primarily use the official concession buoy field in Sveti Ante Bay (southwest, well-sheltered from Bora and NW winds) or sandy Šotorišće Bay (southeast, equipped with summer buoys, sheltered from northern winds but exposed to southern swells).

Is piped municipal tap water available on Silba for refilling boat tanks? ▾

No. Silba is not connected to a mainland water pipeline and possesses no natural surface freshwater, relying entirely on rainwater cisterns and water-carrier ships. Refilling boat freshwater tanks on the island is not permitted. Boaters must arrive fully provisioned. Bottled drinking water is readily available in local grocery stores.
